The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commended Governor Umar Namadi for constituting a befitting 2026 Hajj team, including the appointment of Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Mohammed Hameem Nuhu Sunusi, as Amirul Hajj.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued and made available to The Syndicate in Dutse, the state capital, and signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Habibu Yusuf Babura.

The Board described the appointment of the Emir and other team members as well deserved.

According to the statement, the Board, under the leadership of its Director-General, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, pledged full support and collaboration with the new Amirul Hajj to ensure a smooth and successful pilgrimage.

Babura said Alhaji Labbo noted that the choice of the Sarkin Dutse was “highly fitting,” citing his deep religious commitment and outstanding role as a community leader in Jigawa State.

“The Amirul Hajj possesses the requisite religious knowledge and leadership qualities to guide pilgrims effectively. The Board will work closely with him and benefit from his wealth of experience and counsel,” the statement added.

Alhaji Labbo also congratulated the Amirul Hajj on the appointment and reaffirmed the readiness of the Board’s staff to work diligently with him for the success of the 2026 Hajj operations.

The Board further lauded Governor Namadi’s decision, describing it as timely and reflective of his commitment to strengthening religious institutions and ensuring orderly Hajj administration in the state.
