Jigawa Senator reels out achievements at townhall meeting

The Senator representing Jigawa Northwest, Babangida Hussaini, has reeled out some of his achievements in the areas of education and health during a townhall meeting on Wednesday in Garki.
These he said include the construction of classrooms, provision of education grants, drugs and electricity among others.
He said that in Garki Local Government Area, he he has constructed classrooms at Garki Government Senior Secondary School and donated a bus for the transportation of the students.
Hussaini also said he had supplied drugs to the Primary Healthcare Centre in Garki, a generator to ease the hardship being experienced by patients due to erratic power supply, and for proper storage of drugs.
“We donated drugs to the hospital and a brand new motorcycle to the head of PHC, in addition to the sponsorship of a free eye treatment for 150 people of the area, and many other healthcare support programmes”.
“Under my education support programme, the people of Garki benefited from the construction of three classroom blocks which were fully furnished at the sum of N60 million, a new Homa 18 Seater bus worth N100 million to GSS Garki, and grants for 22 indigent students studying at various tertiary institutions.
“I also paid for JAMB examination of students with five and above credits including Mathematics and English”.
“In term of human capital development we constructed a skills acquisition center equipped with modern facilities, including industrial sewing machines and other equipment worth over N100 million in the headquarter of the local government area.”
“Five youth were trained on POS business with take-off capital, 55 widows benefited from a grant of N10,000 each for four months, and we provided dry season farmers with improved wheat seeds and farming input at all the eleven political wards in the area.”
According to the Senator, the intervention was to support job creation and self reliance.
“On infrastructural projects, a road had been constructed from Kore to Majiya, Solar street lights had been installed in four major towns, and a N20 million electricity transformer donated to the people of Sabon Garin Garki.”
Hussaini commended Governor Umar Namadi for introducing the townhall meeting, and giving elected officials the opportunity to interact with the people and discuss issues of development.
