Jigawa to provide Special Dietary Care for diabetic pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it plans to provide special dietary care for intending pilgrims living with diabetes and other health conditions during the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
This is contained in a press statement signed and made available to The Syndicate in Dutse by the Board’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Alhaji Habibu Yusuf Babura.
Babura said the initiative formed part of broader measures aimed at safeguarding the health and overall wellbeing of Jigawa pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.
He said that the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, announced the plan during a visit to the medical screening centre at the Dutse General Hospital.
Babura quoted that the Director-General as emphasising that ensuring the health and welfare of pilgrims remained one of the board’s core mandates from the Hajj camps in Nigeria, through their stay in the Holy Land, to their safe return to Jigawa State.
“The Director-General stressed that a safe and healthy pilgrimage is of utmost importance to the Board. As such, the welfare and health of pilgrims will continue to receive priority attention,” he said.
He added that special arrangements had also been made for the provision of three meals daily to pilgrims, a practice described as unique to the state among Hajj operations.
Babura commended Gov. Umar Namadi, for his approval and sustained support toward enhancing the welfare of pilgrims from the state.
