Jigawa’s 2025 Budget Will Advance Infrastructure Development – NGO

A Non-governmental Organisation, Prime Initiative for Development and Fiscal Transparency, says Jigawa State’s 2025 budget presented to the House of Assembly by Governor Umar Namadi will advance the state’s social and infrastructure plans.
A statement made available to The Syndicate in Dutse by the organisation’s Executive Director, Muhammad Abdul Dutse, described the ₦698.3 billion budget as a bold commitment to ensuring progress and prosperity for the state.
“This ambitious budget underscores the state government’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and improving the standard of living for its citizens”.
It called for active participation and support of the people of Jigawa state to ensure the realisation of the transformative vision contained in the budget.
“Governor Namadi’s administration recognises the challenges posed by the current economic realities and the recently enacted tax reform law. These factors necessitate a collective effort to bolster the state’s IGR target”.
The NGO said the roll out of online tax collection platform, face-to-face taxpayer engagement, use of presumptive tax for informal sector, establishment of Tax Audit Unit, and introduction of Grievance Redress Mechanism reflected the government’s determination to promote voluntary compliance, and address tax evasion and linkages.
It observed that through the Grievance Redress Mechanism citizens can access contact points located strategically across the state to resolve any tax-related grievances, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability in revenue collection and remittance.
The NGO urged residents, businesses, and stakeholders to contribute to achieving the goals of the statev2025 budget.
It particularly called for tax compliance not just as a civic duty but also a critical contribution to funding essential services and driving transformative development in the state.
