Kaduna Govt Discovers Huge Gold Deposit, Nickel, Others In Jema’a LGA

Kaduna State has announced the discovery of a vast multi-metallic deposit of gold, lithium, copper, and nickel in the Gidan Waya area of Jemaa Local Government.

It includes 33 million tonnes (MT) of gold, 187 MT of nickel ore bodies, and 97 MT of enriched ore bodies containing tantalum, niobium, tin, and tungsten.

This discovery was made during exploration for tin in the pegmatite region of Gidan Waya by Kian Smith for the Kaduna Mining Development Company (KMDC) and Anka Metals joint venture.

In response to this significant find, KMDC has announced the creation of the Jemaa Resource Project, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to develop the asset, which has constituted a technical steering committee to oversee drilling and resource confirmation.

The Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), responsible for providing relevant geological data for Nigeria, will lead the technical steering committee of the Jemaa Resource Project.

The NGSA has welcomed the approach of the Jemaa Resource Project and the Kaduna State government for transparency in data sharing and their call for an independent resource verification process led by the NGSA.

The collaboration aims to increase investor confidence in the Nigerian mining sector and enrich and update geoscience information for the economic development of Nigeria.

The technical steering committee also includes the leadership of Nigeria’s reputable geological firms, Geocardinal Engineering Services Limited and Fundamental Integrated Site Appraisal Services Limited (FISAS).
