Bashir Mustapha, a Kano-based tech enthusiast, has commenced the mass production of USB cables in Kano.
In a telephone interview with WikkiTimes, Mustapha shared the vision behind his new venture, MUCSTAR Cables and Accessories.
The company, which started operations three months ago, is one of its kind in Africa, with most production activities carried out locally by Mustapha and his team.
“The idea to begin mass USB cable production was conceived to discourage over-reliance on the importation of basic items and to create jobs for the teeming youth,” Mustapha explained. “We can’t keep relying on imports for everything. USB cables are part of the basic needs of mobile phone users.”
According to Mustapha, the company purchased the necessary machinery for production, but all other activities, including assembly and packaging, are handled by his team in Kano.
“We have the machines here, and we do the production; it’s only the wires that we buy, but everything else is done here in our company,” he emphasized.
The young entrepreneur noted that the initial phase involved distributing the cables to family and friends for testing, which yielded promising results.
“Our products are of high quality; people have been calling to place their orders. This initiative will provide employment opportunities for our youth,” Mustapha added.
