Kano Governor’s aide drags EFCC to court over alleged diversion of FG’s palliatives
The Chief of Staff to Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, has dragged the EFCC to court for wrongly accusing him of diverting the Federal Government palliatives sent to the state.
In the suit before Justice Aisha Ya’u of the State High Court, Sagagi sought for the protection of his rights against the petition written by the Arewa APC Merger Group accusing him of diverting the Federal Government palliatives meant for the people of the state.
Already, Justice Aisha Ya’u had granted an order restraining the EFCC, its agents,police and other security outfits from arresting or prosecuting him over the issue.
The restraining order as granted by the court says,” upon reading motion ex-parte together with the accompanying affidavit, an order is granted restraining the 1st respondent (EFCC) and particularly 4th respondent (Police) either by themselves, agents or cronies from arresting the complainant, pending the determination of the motion on notice slated for hearing on the 3rd Day of September 2024.”
The case was filed by DY Gambo, Counsel to the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi.
Sagagi was alleged to have diverted palliative rice given to the State by the Federal Government, but the State Anti Graft Commission Chairman Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, had cleared him of wrong doing, insisting that the foodstuff was meant for Sagagi Orphans Islammiyya School.
