Kano Govt calls for Ganduje’s arrest over inciting statements

The Kano State Government has called for the arrest of former Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje over alleged inciting statements capable of undermining the security of the state government.
The State’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, stated this when he briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting of the State Executive Council on Friday.
“Council deliberated extensively over the recent inflammatory statements made by a former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Deputy Senate President Barau I Jibrin, who alleged that the State is vulnerable to banditry and further announced plans to recruit 12,000 individuals under a proposed religious police outfit named Khairul Nas.
“Council noted that the utterances were inciting, reckless, and capable of undermining the security efforts of Kano State Government and the President Tinubu led administration, which demonstrated genuine concern for the plight of its citizens and had continued to work tirelessly to safeguard their lives and properties across the nation,” Wayya said.
According to him, less than 48 hours after the statement, suspected bandits infiltrated some border communities in the State, raising concerns that the remarks might have been premeditated or linked to the assault.
He said the council reaffirmed its appreciation of the Federal Government and security agencies for their ongoing support in the fight against the insecurity “and therefore called for the immediate investigation and arrest of the former Governor for attempting to create an illegal militia group.”
He urged public figures to avoid statements that could incite unrest, assuring citizens of the State Government’s commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order across the state.
The commissioner then announced that the council approve N54 billion for the execution of various projects in the state.
These include the establishment of an Emergency Operation Centre at the Government House, Kano,at N1 billion and the construction of Kano State Chief Judge Residence at a cost of N440 million.
He also said that the council approved the renovation of the Protocol lounge at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at the sum of N192 million and the implementation of routine Immunization activities for the fourth quarter of 2025 at the sum of N344 million.
Furthermore, Wayya said, the council approved for the settlement of energy bill to KEDCO for the month of September, 2025 at N214 million.
