Kano Govt to reopen Kiru Reformatory Centre

Gov Abba Yusuf of Kano State

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, says his administration plans to reopen the state’s Reformatory Centre at Kiru Local Government Area (LGA) of the state as part of measures to rehabilitate youths engaged in drug abuse and prevent thuggery in the state.
Yusuf said this at the state’s weekly Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday in Kano.
He said that the government was working on plans to inaugurate the newly constituted 46 Shura Consultative Council, composed of renowned Islamic Scholars, members of the academia, and other stakeholders.
Yusuf accused opposition parties in the state of fueling civic unrest and instability in the state and promised to take necessary actions to nip the resurgence of thuggery in the bud in the state.

He said that intelligence brief during the state security council held Tuesday clearly revealed the sponsors of the unrest in Kano.

The governor said the opposition was not comfortable with the steady development, peace and stability in the state.
Yusuf, however, restated their commitment to confront the challenges with equal force, saying the government would not tolerate attempts by any elements to frustrate peace in the state.

Yusuf said the government would work with security agencies to check the excesses of criminal-minded elements in the state.
