Kano schools to resume for 2nd term Jan. 18



The Kano State Government has approved Sunday, Jan. 18 as the resumption date for schools across the state for the commencement of the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session.
This is contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the state Ministry of Education, Mr Musbahu Aminu Yakasai on Friday in Kano.
Yakasai said that while boarding schools were expected to resume on Sunday, January 18, 2026, day schools would resume on Monday, January 19, 2026.
“The directive applies to all public, private and voluntary schools operating within Kano State.
“Parents and guardians of boarding students have been advised to ensure that their children return to school early and before evening on the stipulated date to enable proper settling and preparation ahead of academic activities.
“The government also directs all heads of schools and teachers to ensure that teaching and learning begin immediately on Monday, January 19, 2026, without delay. School proprietors and administrators are advised to put necessary arrangements in place to guarantee a smooth and orderly resumption.
“In a goodwill message, the Commissioner of Education, Dr Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, wishes students, parents and teachers a successful and productive academic term,” he added.
