Kano Special Task Force Arrests 53 Suspected Thugs, Drug Dealers In 2 Days 

The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has arrested 53 suspected thugs and drug in two days of intelligence-led operations some areas of Kano Metropolis.

The task force, led by Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, conducted targeted clearance operations in Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Zanzado, Rimi Market, Shahuchi Park, Kano Line, Sharada, Ja’in, Dan Agundi and neighbouring areas on March 13 and 14.

The intelligence-led operations which were conducted in criminal hideout and black spots led to the recovery large quantity of cannabis and illicit drugs, as well as dangerous weapons and charms.

“Furthermore, during the operation, the Task Force recovered substantial quantities of cannabis sativa at a known notorious drug joint in Zanzado, where the larger quantity of the substance was found.

“Additionally, a delivery vehicle and five cattle suspected to belong to a known drug dealer, were also seized at this location.

“All the suspects arrested will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the committee indicated in a statement on Saturday.

It believed that the success recorded in the two-day operations was a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat thuggery and substance abuse in Kano State.

The Syndicate reports that the committee is composed of security agencies and government functionaries, and was mandated to  sanitise the streets of Kano and restor peace to the communities.

“The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee remains steadfast and resolute in its mission to create a safer, drug-free and peaceful environment for the benefit of all the inhabitants in the State,” it assured.
