Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has welcomed the completion of Kashimbila dam and airport in Takum Local Government area, saying they will boost tourism in the state.
A statement signed on Friday by Mr Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Digital Communication, said that the dam which has the capacity to provide 40 megawatts, would boost electricity supply, especially to Wukari, Takum, Donga, Ussa and Ibi Local Government Areas of the state.
Governor Kefas said a three-star hotel would be built around the dam to enhance tourism, but stressed the need for peace in the area for the state to benefit maximally from the projects.
He said there is very high anticipation among citizens that the projects would tremendously impact their lives.
“The dam is not just about electricity but also for irrigational purposes and the supply of water in the area.
“The Kashimbilla airport will make it the second airport in the state with huge potentials for cargoe transportation.
“The economic benefits to Taraba State and environs is beyond quantifying,” he added.
