Katsina bandits unleashing terror on Kano communities- Official

Bandits in Katsina State,  have diverted their terror to border communities in Kano State following a Peace Accord with the State Government which restrained them from unleashing their mayhem in the state, an official has said.

The Chairman of the Security Committee of Faruruwa and the surrounding communities of Shanono Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State, Alhaji Yahaya Bagobiri, stated this when he addressed journalists in Kano.

Bagobiri, represented by Prof.M.D.Mukhtar, said that the security situation in Faruruwa and other communities had deteriorated with bandits unleashing mayhem on the inhabitants.

He said the bandits had invaded Faruruwa,Tsaure,Dan Shado, Gwauron Dutse,Furaku,Yanganau, Unguwar Tsamiya, slaughtering people, kidnapping others and carting away herds of cattle.

Bagobiri said despite the deployment of security personnel to the affected communities, the bandits were attacking, killing and abducting people and carting away their valuables.

He said the bandits were crossing over from the neighbouring Katsina State through a border opening in Tsanyawa Local Government Area (LGA) and perpetrating their dastardly acts.

“We appreciate the deployment of security personnel to the affected areas by the Federal Government but the exercise has not stopped the security breach,as the bandits are still terrorizing our communities.

“Many inhabitants of the affected towns and villages have fled and taken refuse in Kano city and other safer areas outside the state.

“We are afraid that unless the banditry is addressed, the terrorists will escalate their attacks to other LGAs, including Bichi, and from there, they may reach Kano, the State Capital,” Bagobiri said.

He,therefore, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to work with his new Service Chiefs to re-strategize and defeat the bandits in order to restore peace, law and order in the affected communities.

Bagobiri also urged Gov. Abba Yusuf to join hands with Tinubu,as well as cooperate with and support the security personnel deployed to the state so as to address the situation.

He urged the governor to work with his Katsina State counterpart to fashion out ways to block the border points through which the bandits were infiltrating into the state.
