Katsina Governor Approves N21.7bn To Settle 3 Years Gratuities

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has authorized the release of over ₦21.7 billion to settle three years gratuities of retired state and local governments workers in the state.
This was disclosed on Thursday by the Head of Civil Service of the State, Alhaji Falalu Bawale during the inaugural meeting of the committee set up to facilitate the payment.
According to Bawale, the funds are intended to clear outstanding gratuities from september 2023 to October 2025.
He explained that N7.7 biillion of the money would be paid at once this December to all retirees from state government service while N14 billion meant for retired staff of Local Governments and the Local Education Authorities will be paid in trenches from this December to March 2026.
The state government had within the year paid N23 billion backlogs of retirement benefits from January 2019 to August 2023.
