Katsina Govt Begins Compulsory Verification of Civil Servants

The Katsina State Government has commenced the biometric verification of all state and local government workers targeted at ensuring accountability, transparency, and effective personnel management.
The government emphasised that the screening and biometric verification are compulsory for all civil servants without exception.
The verification was flagged off by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, on Tuesday in Katsina.
He said the exercise is crucial to determining the actual and genuine workforce of the state and ensuring accurate personnel data for government planning and fiscal responsibility.
The Chairman of the staff audit committee, Dr. Abdullahi Abubakar Gagare, said they had taken note of the reluctance of some workers to come forward for the verification and assured that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure full compliance.
Dr. Gagare explained that the committee is expecting to verify over 20,900 civil servants across the state civil service and the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
He assured that the committee remains committed to fairness, transparency, and professionalism throughout the process.
Also speaking, the state Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale, described the verification exercise as a routine and necessary procedure to strengthen the service, and urged all civil servants to cooperate fully with the committee to enable it successfully discharge its mandate.
