Katsina Govt Closes Down 22 Health Colleges, Reopen 9
Katsina State Government has announced the closure of 22 private health colleges being run without meeting the requirements to operate as health training institutions.
The Special Adviser to the state governor on health institutions, Dr Umar Mammada made this known on Tuesday in Katsina.
He recalled that the government had set up two committees which undertook thorough appraisal of all the 31 health colleges running certificate and diploma programmes in the state.
He said nine out of the 31 colleges that met all the requirements to operate, have been given permission to reopen, while the rest will remain closed until they satisfy all operational requirements.
The nine institutions given permission to reopen include Bawo College of Nursing Sciences, Daura, ESsEmm College of Nursing Sciences, Katsina, Cherish College of Nursing Sciences, Katsina, Northwest College of Nursing Sciences, Katsina, Umar Faruq Bilingual College of Nursing Sciences, Daura, Cherish College of Health and Technology, Katsina, College of Health and Environmental Sciences Funtua, Khuddam College of Health and Technology, Katsina, and Muslim College Community of Health and Technology, Funtua.
He urged parents and the affected students to exercise patience as the measures taken were to sanitise the colleges and ensure that the students get the best education comparable anywhere in the world
