Katsina Govt to procure 20,000 tonnes of fertiser, upgrade 102 health centres

 

Katsina State Government on Thursday announced its decision to procure 20,000 tonnes of fertiliser for distribution to farmers ahead of the rainy season.

The government also said it would procure 722 motorcycles for agric extension workers.

The Syndicate reports that other decisions taken during the state Executive Council Meeting held in Katsina, included the upgrade of 102 health centres across the 34 local government areas of the state.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. Ahmed Muhammad Bakori said in addition to the fertiliser and motorcycles, the government would also procure sprayers and distribute to farmers.

In his presentation, the Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Bishir Gambo Saulawa, said that the council had also endorsed the request of the ministry to upgrade the comprehensive health centres in Charanchi and Dandume to General Hospitals.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Sani Magaji Ingawa, said solar street lights would be installed along major roads in Katsina.

He added that the government would build a new secondary school in Radda to provide educational opportunities for students in the area, while vehicles would be procured to ease the movement of pilgrims from the state during Hajj operation in Saudi Arabia.

The state executive council meeting, presided by Governor Dikko Radda, had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Faruq Lawal Jobe, Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, Chief of Staff, Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri, the PPS, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, Head of the state Civil Service, Falalu Bawale, Commissioners, Special Advisers and other key officials.
