Kebbi Governor Constitutes Committee To Assess Flood-Damaged Infrastructure
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has constituted an eight-man to assess the level of damage to infrastructure cauaed by recent floods in the state.
According to a statement by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, the committee, headed by the Commissioner of Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruq, has one week to submit its report.
It’s mandate is to visit all affected areas, provide verifiable evidence of the extent of damages, and make recommendations for the immediate rehabilitation or reconstruction of the affected facilities.
The committee will document the damages, provide cost estimates for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructures, identify areas vulnerable to flooding that may require proactive measures to prevent further disaster, and advise government on strategies to avert future occurrence.
Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and public infrastructure, and assured that “proactive steps are being taken to mitigate the impact of flooding in Kebbi State”.
The Syndicate reports that the flood assessment committee has the Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi and that of Special Duties, Alhaji Zaiyanu Aliero, as members.
Others are the Special Adviser, Due Process, Alhaji Sirajo Garba Bagudo and that of Power and Politics, Alhaji Kabiru Sani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Arch Saad Sakaba, Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Bello Yakubu and Director, Civil Engineering Department, Ministry of Works, Alhaji Sahabi Muhammad Tilli, who will serve as Secretary of the committee
