Kebbi Information Commissioner empowers community women with N1.2m
In consonance with the policy thrust of incumbent administration of Governor Nasir Idris on Youths and Women Development, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed Bk has empowered women with a total sum of N1.2 million to engage in profitable ventures.
120 women resident of Bayan-Kara area in Birnin Kebbi, received ten thousand naira each to boost their businesses and ultimately enhance their economic status.
Disbursing the money at his residence on Thursday, the Commissioner remarked that the gesture was part of his efforts to assist women who are the basic foundation of family growth and values.
“I am doing this in my capacity as Commissioner. Our amiable Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has been massively empowering women and youths as his policy premium on human development.
“Each of the 120 women, my neighbours in Bayan-Kara gathered here, will receive N10,000. This is the beginning. I have plans for larger packages in the near future to include all women in our area and beyond”, Yakubu said.
Kebbi State APC Women Leader, Aisha Gunabi, commended the Commissioner for his benevolence.
“Kauran Gwandu administration attaches priority to women empowerment as demonstrated here today by the Hon. Commissioner.
“The governor runs an open administration, giving cognisance to gender equality and opportunity to thrive.
“Women constitute majority of voters in elections, any politician of repute should imbibe the antecedent of Governor Nasir Idris on women development.
“Those negating women are bound for failure, we thank Hon. Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, for this cash empowerment that will improve the wellbeing of families,” Gunabi said.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsinmari, in a message, donated N500,000 to support the disbursement. He was represented at the event by Honorable Aliyu Buda, a Special Adviser to Governor Idris.
