LG Chairman Disburses N19m to 300 widows in Jigawa

The Chairman of Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Arc. Najibullah Falalu Tukur, on Monday distributed over N19 million to 300 widows to support their businesses.
Najibullah said that the gesture was in line with the local council’s determination to touch the lives of the people.
He pledged to work more closely with traditional leaders to support more widows and make positive impact in the lives of all residents of the area.
The chairman said during the presentation, which was witnessed by the Emir of Dutse, Dr Hamim Nuhu Sunusi said that Buji Local Government Council has initiated other social intervention programmes to better the lives of residents.
He appreciated the Emir for the visit and to distribute Zakat to the needy in the area.
According to him, the distribution of Zakat to deserving individuals across communities in the area is a noble gesture aimed at alleviating hardship and promoting social equity.
The council boss expressed gratitude to the people, and the district heads of Gantsa and Yayarin Tukur for emerging first and  second in the collection of the Zakat proceeds from those mandated by Islam to give out to the needy.
“This achievement reflects the dedication and coordination of our community leaders, religious scholars, and local administrators in ensuring transparency and fairness in the handling of religious obligations,” Najibullah said.
On his part, the emir called on the people to give out Zakat when it due, so as to purify their wealth from calamities.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the District Heads in collecting the Zakat.
Hamim honoured the district heads of Yayarin Tukur and Gantsa, Alhaji Garba Muhammad and Alhaji Sabo Bello, respectively, and all village and ward heads.
In his remarks, the Sa’in Dutse, Mallam Mahmud Yunusa, said Yayari district ranked first in cash Zakat collection, while Gantsa and Fagam districts came second and third.
