Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has pleaded with the electorate not to disgrace the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the forthcoming local government elections.

He urged the electorate to come out en-mass and vote for all APC candidates, so that the party will be in charge of not only the legislature and at the state level, but also all the 27 local government areas.

The governor made the plea during the APC Jigawa Southeast Zonal campaign rally held at the ancient city of Hadejia.

According to him, the APC led administration in the state remains committed to improving the social and economic life of the people by focusing on developmental projects and programmes.

“Therefore, voting for APC candidates at all the 27 local government area will help us in our collective effort toward making Jigawa state Great.

“I call on all good people of Jigawa state to vote for our party candidates as we have confidence on their loyalty, patriotism, transparency and commitment for serving the state and humanity in accordance with our party’s philosophy and our 12-point agenda,” Namadi added.

He reaffirmed his government’s promise to reduce the level of poverty by 10 percent every year and called on youth to imbibe the culture of farming as a business so as to create jobs, wealth and food security.

The state APC Chairman, Aminu Sani Gumel, charged party members to go to every village, town, city and houses to campaign for the party’s candidates.

“We have confidence that Jigawa people will overwhelmingly vote for our candidates, but since it is part of democratic tradition to go out for campaign during election period, let us uphold the tradition and use it as time to meet with and greet all the people of the state,” he said.

Earlier, the chairman of the campaign council, who is also the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim urged voters to come out en-mass and vote for APC candidates, so as to have unified policies and programmes between the local councils and the state government.
