Man faces life jail over alleged rape of neighbour’s daughter

 

 

A 50-year-old man, Lukman Salau has appeared before a magistrate court in Ibadan, Nigeria over alleged rape of his 19-year-old neighbour’s daughter on February 19.
The Magistrate, Mr M. Mudasiru did not take the plea of Lukman, but ordered that he be remanded at Agodi Correctional facility in Ibadan, while the case file was forwarded to the Oyo State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The case was adjourned till May 21, for mention. Lukman who resides at No. 2, Ajanla Estate, Akala Expressway, Ibadan, was charged of rape by the police.
Police Inspector Femi Oluwadare told the court that the accused had carnal knowledge of the girl without her consent, an offence punishable under section 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The accused risks life imprisonment if found guilty.
