MDI Trains 40 Jigawa Library Officers On Digital Resource Management

The Jigawa Manpower Development Institute (MDI) has conducted a one-day capacity building workshop for 40 library officers in the state on e-library operations and digital resource management.
Declaring the training open, the Director-General of MDI, Alhaji Umar Faruk Wada, said the exercise was designed to equip participants with modern skills in library management to meet the demands of digitalisation and evolving technology.
“This initiative aligns with our mandate to improve the standards and competencies of manpower in both the public and private sectors in Jigawa State and the country at large,” he stated.
Alhaji Wada noted that the training would enhance the knowledge and efficiency of librarians in effective service delivery, adding that it is part of a continuous programme by the institute.
“Libraries have always been safe havens for the storage and acquisition of vital information, and librarians play a crucial role in preserving these resources for public use,” he added.
Participants were drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), private organisations, and government and independent media.
Presentations during the workshop covered topics such as Government and Administration in Library Practices, Functions of Government Libraries, Digital Libraries and Comparative Analysis, Dissemination of Information, and Collection Development.
