My wife is too repulsive, divorce seeking hubby tells court
A divorce seeking man, Mr Shina Adetunji has petitioned a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his union with his estranged wife, Ewatomi on grounds of her frequent uncontrollable quarrelsomeness and repulsive nature.
Adetunji, a businessman explained that he had not known peace since he wedded Ewatomi in 2010 because it was “one day, one trouble” in his home.
“My lord, if Ewatomi is not engaged in physical combat with me, she is quarreling with our neighbours or passersby. I’ve tried all I could to orientate and make her see life from a positive perspective, but she kept exhibiting the same attitude.
“In fact, to change her, I reported Ewatomi to the Islamic society that served as intermediary between us, but she refused to stop her troublesome character,” Adetunji told the court, and tendered a copy of the letter.
The petitioner also said that his wife had since left their matrimonial home.
In a counter argument, Ewatomi denied all the allegations leveled against her, but consented that the marriage be dissolved.
“My lord, it is not true that Adetunji reported me to our Islamic Society about my habit. He is an irresponsible husband, he neither cater for the only child I had with him nor does he provide for my own needs.
“The major reason why Adetunji came to the court is the loan he acquired for me to buy some foodstuff for my business. After acquiring the N50,000 loan, he refused to refund it since 2015 and I reported him to his relatives, but nothing came out of it.
“I’ve left his home since Oct. 27 2023, I agree to part ways with him. Please, let him be responsible to the child,” Ewatomi begged the court.
The President of the court, Mrs S.M. Akintayo ordered the respondent to produce the child in the union in court, and advised the duo to maintain the peace.
She subsequently adjourned the case till March 28, for ruling.
