NDE Trains 81 PWDs Under Renewed Hope Empowerment Initiative in Jigawa

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has has successfully completed the training of 81 People Living With Disability in Jigawa State on various skills to be self reliant.
The three months Community Based Empowerment Training (CBET) was conducted at the Federal secretariat in Dutse.
The NDE coordinator in Jigawa state, Alhaji Hamza Garba presented resettlement packages to seven of the PWDs who completed the training to set up their own businesses.
“As you are witnessing now, these are seven people who successfully completed training on tailoring and fashion design and were selected to be resettled for them to start their businesses. The seven of them are entitled to working materials and cash of N309,000 each totaling to N2.1 million,” he said.
He said, “the programme is parts of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conducted through the NDE and National Commission for People Living With Disbilities in demand skills vocational training.
“The commission provided the list of 81 participants to our office where we contacted their association state chairmen, verified the list, post them to different training outlets and acquired necessary training materials for the three months.
“All the participants are entitled to a resettlement package to be provided in collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs under the N-power programme.”
The coordinator said that PWDs were trained in tailoring, welding, carpentry, GMS repairs and metal fabrication.
“This initiative culminated in the launching of resettlement of the trained beneficiaries to empower them to be not only self-employed but employers of labour,” Hamza said.
He reminded the beneficiaries that “the package is a revolving loan to be paid back in instalment, so as to be given to others to benefit.”
