According to the resident, who doesn’t want his name mentioned, the first person went into the well to evacuate dungs but did not come out.
“In an attempt to rescue him, the second person entered too, followed by the third and fourth persons, all of whom lost their lives,” the source said.
The villagers had to mobilise a rescue team before the bodies of the four people evacuated from the pit and deposited in the mortuary.
An environmental engineer, Sunday Ihekire said, “This incident is a tragic reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety protocols while embarking in such potentially hazardous activities.”
