NG-CARES Offers Free Inputs To 26,000 Fadama Farmers In Jigawa

No fewer than 26, 000 farmers recieved three bags of fertilizer, improved seeds, herbicide and insecticides each free of charge from the NG-CARES programme in Jigawa State.
The inputs were handed over to the farmers at a ceremony in Dutse, on Wednesday.
The state coordinator of the Fadama component of the programme, Malam Aliyu Inuwa said the intervention was to compliment the efforts of the federal government in achieving food security.
“We understand the importance of timely agricultural inputs in boosting productivity. This is part of Jigawa state’s commitment to ensure that it leads in agricultural production, and this is one of the steps towards achieving that.
“The aim is to boost food production, to achieve food security and improve livelihood of citizens especially rural communities in the country”.
Some of the beneficiaries commended Governor Umar Namadi for the timely distribution of the agricultural inputs.
According to them, farmers in the state have often faced delay in receiving essential inputs, which has historically led to reduced yields and economic hardship.
“However, this administration has prioritised the timely distribution of agricultural inputs, addressing a long-standing challenge,” the farmers said.
One of the farmers, Malam Ibrahim Usman, said they got the fertilizer at the time the plants really needed it, unlike before.
“This timely intervention means we can now maximize our crop yields, and we are hopeful of bountiful harvest,” he said.
