Nigeria, EU To Strengthen Collaboration On Security

Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar says Nigeria and the European Union (EU) should strengthen existing bilateral cooperation between them in area of defence and security.
The Minister made the call when he received Mr Casmin Dirban,  Director Peace Partnership and Crisis Management, EU External Action Service, who paid him a courtesy visit.
This was contained in a press statement made available to The Syndicate by the personal assistant to the minister on media and publicity, Mati Ali.
“We need to work deeply on our security and defence collaboration and relationship,” Badaru was quoted as saying.
The two officials discussed ways of on improving cooperation on security to fight terrorism and banditry in some parts of Nigeria.
Badaru said there should be deliberate efforts to ginger collaboration with Nigeria on defence and security matters.
On his part, Dirban reaffirmed commitment to the existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries and the desire for more stronger relations.
Dirban was accompanied by the EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot.
