NiMet Flood Prediction: NOA Begins Public Enlightenment In Jigawa

Sequel to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) prediction of possible occurrence of flooding in 30 States, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commenced public sensitisation campaign on flood prevention in Jigawa State.
This contained in a press statement made available to The Syndicate in Dutse by NOA media and communication officer in the state, Miss Sarah Ogodo.
She said the Agency director, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim had visited the Executive Secretary to the Jigawa state Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Hannafi Yakubu, to strengthen partnership towards achieving better results on emergency response.
Sarah said that the NOA director presented report of community engagements and sensitization towards curtailing the impacts of flooding to the SEMA chief executive officer.
“As a proactive step to minimize the effects of flooding on communities, we have visited and sensitized 5 flood-prone communities across five LGAs of the state.
“This is in addition to media engagements, featuring radio discussions anchored on educating the public on how to address some of the human induced factors of flooding”.
She said that Ibrahim stressed the importance of planning and coordination especially in risk mitigation and disaster management, saying if all partners work towards achieving one goal, there would be strong coordination to track progress and gaps.
Sarah also said the SEMA executive director, Hannafi Fagam appreciated NOA for the good work they are doing to safeguard humanity.
Fagam assured the NOA team of continued support and partnership, stressing that the Agency’s door is always open for positive inputs aimed at providing quality service.
