NNPP urges aspirants for Kano LG Poll to resign from Caretaker Committees

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) has advised Caretaker Chairmen and Councillors wishing to contest the Nov.30 local government councils election up till Aug. 31 to resign their appointment.
The state NNPP Chairman, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, said this when he addressed newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
Dungurawa said the advice was necessary to enable them to prepare well for the poll.

He said that the party had fixed the fees for nomination form for chairmanship aspirants at N500,000 while the aspirants would pay N100,000 for expression of interest form.
Dungurawa said that the councillorship aspirants would pay N150,000 for nomination form and N50,000 for expression of interest form.

He said the party fixed the “moderate fees” considering the current economic hardships in the country.

He, however, endorsed the Electoral Commission’s fees of N10 million for chairmanship and N5 million for councillorship candidates, describing it as appropriate.

According to the chairman,persons contesting for those local government chairmanship position should be financially sound, demonstrating the ability to manage financial resources effectively.

On women participation in the poll, Dungurawa said the party was encouraging its female members to partake in the election.
