No Crisis In PDP Says Acting National Chairman

The National Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum has reaffirmed the party’s strength and unity, dismissing claims of internal crisis while welcoming returning members ahead of the 2027 elections.
The chairman made this known on Thursday in Nguru, Yobe State, while receiving defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Damagun said the PDP is solid and united unlike the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that had failed to hold National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in two years
“Look at what’s happening in the ruling party. They haven’t held a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in almost two years. You can’t compare them with us.”
“The irony is, you journalists always attribute this crisis to us. As you can see, we have one chairman and one party secretariat.”
“The PDP is always the party to beat—a brand no one can match. We know how to resolve our internal issues,” he said.
Damagun said that the defection of APC and NNPP members to the PDP is a clear indication of the strength of the party and what it means to Nigerians.
When asked about possible merger with other political parties, Damagum firmly rejected the idea, stating, “We have made it clear that the PDP is a brand. Most of these other parties are offshoots of the PDP. We remain the PDP, but we are opening our doors to those who left before now to return, so we can form a credible force for 2027.”
According to him, Nigerians now regret being deceived by the APC which has plunged the nation into a decade of economic hardship and insecurity.
“People are suffering under economic and security challenges, but now their eyes are open,” he said, adding that that the PDP is the only political party in Nigeria that can stand by the people “today, tomorrow, and forever.”
“By the grace of God, as the 2027 elections approach, the PDP has positioned itself as a united front, ready to reclaim its position in Nigeria’s political arena,” he declared.
