No Truce Entered Into With Bandits In Bauchi State – Police Commissioner
The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has dismissed rumours of a truce with bandits in the state.
The commissioner of police dismissed the rumours as totally false on Thursday during a confidence building visit to Mansur town in Alkaleri Local Government Area, one of the areas facing security challenges in the state.
The commissioner, accompanied by other security heads in the state, said neither the government nor the security services had entered into any negotiation with bandits.
“While addressing the gathering, the CP stated emphatically that the rumours making the rounds that a truce for amnesty of sort has been granted to bandits, is totally false.
“He emphasised that neither the Government of Bauchi State nor the Security Community has entered into any negotiation with bandits and assured members of the community that their safety will remain a high priority,” a statement issued by SP Nafiu Habib, Police Public Relations Officer in the state said.
Aliyu advised community members to move freely but maintain vigilance and report any strange faces or happenings directly to the police and other security agents, and in case of emergency, call 08151849417.
During the visit, the security heads assessed the progress of work of the Forward Operation Base (FOB) being constructed by Bauchi State Government.
Together with the CP were the Commandant Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the representatives of the Brigade Commander and Director of State Services (DSS) and the Commander Nigerian Forest Security Service.
Stakeholders and residents from various communities within the area attended the meeting held at the Mansur market square, and expressed their happiness over measures being taken to secure their communities, and also disclosed their security challenges.
