NOA Conducts Sensitisation Campaign To Instill Discipline, Civic Values In Young People

The Jigawa State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Tijjani Ahmed says strong collaboration among families, religious leaders, and local organisations will help to instill discipline and civic values in young people.
The director said this during a sensitisation dialogue to address growing social and security challenges through community engagement at Kiyawa local government area of the state.
Tijjani explained that the sensitisation was to raise awareness and mobilise citizens to tackle the root causes of insecurity and youth restrictiveness by encouraging dialogue among community members, leaders, and youth groups.
“Widespread unemployment, poor moral upbringing, and lack of community vigilance have continued to undermine national unity and stability,” he said, and sought for collective action to address the problems.
The Syndicate reports that stakeholders at the event highlighted the role of parents in shaping children’s character, the need for moral teachings from religious institutions, and the importance of youth empowerment programmes to curb restiveness.
Other recommendations include expanding job opportunities, improving access to quality education, and strengthening neighborhood watch networks to detect and report criminal activities early.
The sensitisation programme, which had the theme “Youth Restiveness and Development Challenges,” brought together traditional rulers, religious figures, youth organizations, and civil society groups — all pledging to work together towards building stronger, safer, and more united communities.
