NUJ to hold maiden Ramadan lecture


Arrangements have been finalized for the inaugural Ramadan Lecture, JAWABI DAGA MALAMAI, organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Jigawa State Council in collaboration with the Jigawa State Government.

The lectures are set to commence on Saturday, 21st February 2026, aimed at fostering spiritual reflection, moral rejuvenation, and social responsibility while promoting unity among leaders, the media community, and the public.

In a statement signed by the Acting Secretary of the NUJ Jigawa State Council, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, it was emphasized that this lecture provides a platform for meaningful engagement on societal values and collective growth.

Shuwajo pointed out that the initiative seeks to involve various stakeholders, encouraging discussions aligned with the principles of cooperation and mutual understanding.

Respected Ulamas from across the state have been invited to deliver lectures on pertinent topics. Associate Professor Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu is scheduled to discuss the Danger of Fake News and the positive aspects of being a journalist on the fifth day of Ramadan, which falls on Saturday, 21st February 2026, by 10:00 AM at NUJ Secretariat.

The event will be graced by Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, who will serve as the Chairman of the occasion.

Additionally, the Jigawa State Council of the NUJ will undertake a compassionate initiative by donating food items and cash donations to the families of deceased and retired NUJ members, this charitable event is scheduled for Wednesday, 18th February 2026, at the NUJ Secretariat, commencing at 10:00 AM.

We invite the media and the public to actively participate in these significant events, aimed at strengthening our communal ties and reflecting on our shared values during this holy month of Ramadan.
