Ogun: 6 friends die after taking alcohol, suspect on the run
Abeokuta – Six friends have died in Ogun hours after consuming alcohol together to settle a dispute with another friend.
The incident occurred in Ogbogbo, Ijebu-North East local government area of the state.
It was gathered that the incident occured on Tuesday, at a bar where seven of them went to iron out their differences.
“Everyone of them that drank the alcohol died except the seventh friend who it was alleged, brought the drink from home, but did not drink.
“The deceased persons and the suspect reportedly had a misunderstanding, which they settled and the suspect brought the drink to appease the friends,” a source in the town said.
It was gathered that few hours after they departed, two of the friends died while four were rushed to hospital.
“The four also died in the hospital while the seventh friend has fled on hearing the news of their death,” the source added.
When contacted, spokesman of the Police Command in Ogun, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.
“I just confirmed something like that occurred but the families said they are not pressing charges and prefer to bury their dead,” she said.
