Our partnership with online media has come to stay- Kano Govt

The Kano State Government says it will continue to partner with online media organisations toward educating the people on its programmes and policies.

Malam Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesperson for Gov. Abba Yusuf, stated this at a one day capacity building workshop for online journalists in Kano, with the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Journalism in the era of Innovation, Integrity; Online Media and National Development.

Dawakin Tofa said that the government would also provide the necessary support for the practitioners toward providing the enabling environment for their operations in the state.

“I’m here to extend a hand of friendship to our colleagues in the online chapel of the Kano State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) under the able leadership of Comrade Abdullahi Dangambo.

“There’s no doubt about the capabilities of the leadership of the Chapel toward the navigation of the terrain ahead, we’ve been friends for a very long time.

“I want to commend the leadership for successfully running the affairs of the chapel and by trying to explore the digital space,” he said.

Dawakin Tofa said that the government believed so much in the potency of the online chapel.

“I want to say that the online journalism has come to stay and gradually, it is taken over the media space as the world keeps changing by the day.

“We can’t afford to abandon the online media platform,  as professional colleagues, we must lend a  helping hand in whatever form we can toward the development of the online chapel.

” The earlier we embrace the chapel the better chances we have in utilising it as a  tool to educate and enlighten the people on the government programmes and policies,” he said.

The syndicate reports that the workshop drew participants from online media organisations in the state.
