Police arrest 2 robbery suspects cattle rustler, others in Jigawa

The police command in Jigawa State, has arrested two robbery suspects, cattle rustler and livestock thieves in its sustained fight against crime in the state.
SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement.
“The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Dahiru Muhammad, psc, fdc, has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained commitment to the protection of lives and property across different parts of the state.
“These successes were achieved by the dedication and professionalism of the gallant officers of the command through community-led policing,” Adam said.
He said that the first arrest was made on Feb. 6 through a joint patrol with sister agencies in the neighbouring Yobe State.
“On 06th February, 2026, at about 0530hrs, a joint patrol team comprising police personnel and sister security agencies in collaboration with vigilante operatives arrested one Ahmed Musa ‘m’ age 22yrs of Talakawa Quarters, Potiskum LGA, Yobe State.
“The suspect was found in possession of various items reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime, including: two (2) Android Vivo mobile phones, one Android Smart 8 mobile phone, one Itel keypad phone, one Nokia keypad phone, four (4) ATM cards, one red and black MP speaker, one lighter and one rechargeable torchligh,” Adam said.
The spokesperson said that N15,017 cash was also recovered from the suspect.
“Cash sum of Fifteen Thousand, Seventeen Naira (₦15,017.00).
“A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect belongs to a syndicate that specializes in armed robbery and housebreaking within Taura town and its environs and dispossessing citizens of their valuables. The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and comprehensive investigation,” he said.
Adam stated that the police also arrested another robbery suspect in Ringim.
“On 28th January, 2026, at about 2200hrs, a 32-year-old man from Unguwar Kanti Quarters, Ringim Township, was attacked and robbed by suspected armed robbers while riding his motorcycle from Zangon Kanya Village to Ringim town.
“The victim was struck on the forehead with a heavy stick, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. The assailants dispossessed him of a bag containing: two (2) Moniepoint POS terminal machines, one MP4 device, ATM cards, cash sum of Nine Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira (₦940,000.00).
“Following a prompt response by police detectives from Ringim Division, one Abdullahi Danladi ‘m’ age 20yrs of Almajirawa Village, was arrested. Further investigation led to the arrest of his accomplices, namely:Manu Sabo ‘m’ 25yrs of Ba’awa Settlement, Sani Usman ‘m’ age 20yrs of Kukuwa Settlement and Maikudi Ya’u ‘m’ age 30yrs of Gidan Zomo Settlement. The two Moniepoint POS terminals and one ATM card were recovered in their possession. The suspects were transferred to SCID for diligent investigation and prosecution,” he said.
Adam added that another suspect was arrested in connection with cattle rustling in Birnin Kudu.
“On 29th January, 2026, at about 1500hrs, operatives from Birnin Kudu Area Command, Birnin Kudu, intercepted one Isa Alhaji Sabo ‘m’ age 20yrs of Dubeni Sabuwa village, Dutse LGA, at Larau Forest, Tukuda axis, Birnin Kudu LGA, with seven (7) cows strongly suspected to have been rustled.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with two of his accomplices and rustled the said cows from the Rangwam and Alwashi communities under Sandimina District, Birnin Kudu LGA. Efforts are being intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing accomplices, while the recovered cattle have since been handed over to the rightful owners on bond,” he said.
Adam stated that some suspected livestock thieves were also apprehended in Sundimina District of Birnin Kudu LGA.
“On 03rd February, 2026, at about 0930hrs, information from a reliable source revealed that unknown persons stole eleven (11) animals (three rams and eight sheep) at Janwawa Forest while they were grazing. Following a tip-off, one suspect, Adamu Babare ‘m’ age 24yrs of Janwawa Settlement, was arrested while attempting to dispose of the stolen animals.
“Out of the eleven animals, nine (9) were successfully recovered, while two (2) had earlier been sold. The investigation has been completed. The suspect has since been arraigned in court to face the law.
“The Commissioner of Police comments on the gallantry, professionalism, and dedication of the officers involved in these operations, as well as the crucial support of sister security agencies and community vigilante groups.
