Police arrest husband for allegedly killing wife in Borno

Police have arrested two suspects, Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim and Bukar Wadiya, in connection to the killing of the 24-year-old daughter of Borno House of Assembly member.

The deceased was the wife of Ibrahim, a principal suspect in the case, the police said.

The deceased was killed in her matrimonial home located at Gidan Dembe area of Maiduguri on Tuesday, and was  buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites.

The Police Command in Borno, in a statement issued on Friday by its Spokesman, Sani Shatambaya, said that the husband took the wife’s dead body to Gwange Division accompanied by Wadiya in a Honda car registered MAG 230 AP, seeking for emergency help, on October 18, at about 1800hrs.

“The woman was later identified as Fatima Alhaji Bukar. The husband stated that he is a staff of UBA and that he came back from work at about 1700hrs and found her lying in a pool of blood.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that before the incidence, the couple had some domestic dispute over an alleged extra marital affair by the husband at their matrimonial home.

“The house where the incident happened located at Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe Area Maiduguri was secured, and during search, the following exhibits were recovered:

“One short pestle, a bag rope, a rug carpet stained with blood, knife, Honda vehicle with CHASIS NO ANR742256679821, PLATE NO MAG 230 AP, and a mucus stained pillow.

“There was no evidence of constructive breakage or entry into the house and only the husband has key to open the house from outside.

“The husband and Bukar Wadiya were both arrested as prime suspects. Discreet investigation is ongoing for diligent prosecution.” the police said.
