Police Arrest Principal Over Theft of School Facilities In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a Principal, Bashir Musa, over alleged theft of solar lighting equipment and desktop computers at a school laboratory in Dutsi Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by spokesman of the command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the arrest followed investigations in connection with vandalism and theft of the items on January 19, 2026.
“Upon receipt of the information, detectives were drafted to the scene, and the investigation commenced. A handsaw suspected to be used in perpetrating the crime was recovered from the scene.
“The investigation led to the residence of the school principal; upon search, the following items were recovered as exhibits: 4 Solar panels, 1 Solar battery,
5 Computer monitors, 3 C.P.Us, 1 Printing machine, and 2 Clippers.
“The principal was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for questioning, where he confessed to the commission of the crime.
“Investigation is ongoing with a view to recovering the remaining exhibits,” Aliyu said.
