Police Intercept ‘Highly Explosive Materials’, Arrest 3 Suspects In Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command has announced the interception of a Golf car loaded with highly explosive materials at Koza village in Daura Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said three people have been arrested when the car was intercepted on January 7, 2026.
He explained that 6,975 pieces of detonators were recovered from the vehicle, and the driver, Jamilu Musa, was instantly arrested.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having received the materials from one Najib, now at large, en route to Kwangolam, Mai’adua LGA, Katsina State, from Kano State.
“In the course of the investigation, two suspects, one Ibrahim Murtala, 22, and one Sulaiman Muhammad, 35, were arrested in connection with the offence, and additional 7,500 electric detonators and 30½ bags of gelatine weighing 2,273.65 kg were recovered from the suspects.”
“The suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” while efforts have been intensified to track and arrest Najib, the suspect named by the driver.
