Police rescue 73 kidnap victims, arrest 175 suspects in one month
The Katsina State Police Command has rescued 73 kidnap victims and arrested over 175 suspects for various offences in one month, its spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said on Thursday.
Sadiq said during a press briefing on the achievements recorded by the command in May 2025, that 30 people were arrested for rape.
Others are 15 for armed robbery, 20 in connection with murder and culpable homicide, one linked to a kidnapping case, one for unlawful possession of firearm, and 108 for other offences.
He listed arms recovered to include a locally fabricated AK-49 rifle, a locally made revolver pistol, 506 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 7 stolen motorcycles, and 174 rustled animals.
“We appreciate their support, collaboration, and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order,” he said, and called for continued cooperation through prompt information on criminal activities anywhere in the state.
