Police Rescue 80-year-old Woman, Neutralise 5 Kidnappers

The Jigawa state police command has announced the rescue of an 80-year-old woman, Hajiya Hajara, who was kidnapped from Minjibir in Kano State.
The command said five of the kidnappers were killed in an exchange of fire with the police, and five others, including the ring leader, were arrested.
The commissioner of police in Jigawa, Ahmed Abdullahi told newsmen that the woman was rescued unhurt on May 16 in a forest between Danzomo and Medi villages in the state.
Abdullahi disclosed that two AK-47 rifles, one multipurpose machine gun, 14 live ammunition, two motorcycles, and three mobile handsets were recovered during the operation.
The commissioner said that the command had also conducted aggressive raids on criminal hot spots in Gumel, Gagarawa, Gujungu, Suletankarka, Garki and Ringim local government areas.
He particularly said that raids conducted on black spots and criminal hideouts in Sara and Gwaram Sabuwa in Gwaram local government area, led to the arrest of 14 suspects and recovery of illicit drugs .
The drugs recovered include 380 tablets of Exol 5, 330 D5 Valium, 44 tablets of Tramadol, 84 rubber solution, Indian Hemp and other illicit substances.
Meanwhile, six suspects from Kano State have been arrested in Birnin Kudu LGA in Jigawa in possession of fake foreign and local currencies.
They had on them 163 notes of fake 100 dollar bills, and two original 100 notes of US dollars.
Similarly, another suspect was arrested in possession of ₦1,132,000, 100 US dollar bill, 14 Egyptian Pounds, 70 Pounds
counterfeit, ₦60,000, and Six ATM cards.
