Poverty Among Women Exacerbating Out of School Children Phenomenon – Gov’s Wife

Wife of Jigawa state governor, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi has joined the advocacy to address the problem of out of school children in the country.
The governor’s wife said she would work with stakeholders to improve the source of income of women by expanding women trades and entrepreneurship skills.
Hajiya Amina said during the opening of the maiden Women Trade Fair, in Dutse, that poverty and illiteracy have direct connection to the rising number of out of school children in Nigeria.
She therefore said addressing illiteracy, poverty, redundancy and low income especially among mothers will provide lasting solutions to the out of school children phenomenon, and many social vices in the society.
Hajiya Amina commended Jigawa Women Entrepreneurs Network (JIWEN) for organising the trade fair, and said that the state government has programmes to support women entrepreneurs.
The governor’s wife assured her readiness to cooperate with women groups working to reduce poverty and the number of out of schools children.
Earlier, the JIWEN Coordinator, Nuriya Haruna Bako said the maiden women trade fair was organised to mark the Global Entrepreneurs Week.
According to her, the fair was put together by JIWEN, Jigawa Invest, Nigerian Women Chamber of Commerce, Jigawa State Chapter, Nigerian Women in Agricultural Business Cooperative Society Ltd. (NiWAB), Dutse Women Prenuers Wing (DWPW), Jigawa Entrepreneurs Initiative and Food Expo Dutse.
The coordinator said over seventy registered women business groups are participating in the trade fair.
“Jigawa women entrepreneurs Network (JIWEN) as part of its activities to mark the global entrepreneurs week organized the Trade Fair with the aim to see that Jigawa women entrepreneurs prevail in their journey of becoming great business women at state, national and global levels, at the same time build a women friendly entrepreneur ecosystem in the state”, Nuriya said.
