President Tinubu meets governors on rising food cost, insecurity
President Bola Tinubu is meeting with state governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja over rising food cost and insecurity.
The meeting, being attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, has more 27 governors and the deputy governor of Bauchi State in attendance.
There has been protests in some states over rising cost of food items and insecurity across the country, which the Federal Government initially blamed opposition politicians for organising the protests.
The government however changed its tone when it announced plan to release 42 tonnes of grains to be distributed for free to vulnerable households nationwide.
Nigeria has been witnessing galloping inflation in the last nine months since Tinubu took over the leadership of the country, with the country’s country on a free fall against the dollar, with exchange rate going up from about N480 to a dollar to over N1500 to one dollar now.
Amidst the economic crisis, President Tinubu is set to jet out to Ethiopia for the Africa Union Summit in Addis Ababa.
