Prominent Zaria cleric, Rigi-Rigi, is dead
A renowned Zaria Islamic scholar, Sheikh Khalifa Usman Idris, popularly known as Rigi-Rigi, has passed away.
Rigi-Rigi’s son-in-law, Malama Abubakar Ɗanyaro, confirmed the cleric’s death to Daily Trust Monday morning.
He said that the scholar passed away Sunday night at a private hospital in Kaduna.
Ɗanyaro said that the funeral prayer is scheduled for Monday, after Asr prayer at his residence in the Kusfa area of Zaria.
The cleric was hospitalized at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna before he was transferred to a private hospital in Barnawa, Kaduna, where he passed away.
Rigi-Rigi was well-known for his humorous preaching style, with videos of his sermons widely circulating and very popular on social media.
