Protest: No Fatalities In Katsina – Police
The Police Command in Katsina State has refuted claims that a police officer was shot and killed by a colleague during the protest against bad governance in the state.
The command in a statement by its spokesman, said the video was “manipulated and taken out of context,” and there were no fatalities recorded since the protest began on Thursday.
“The fact is that the security agent shown in the video is an officer of the NSCDC who fell from a patrol vehicle due to an accident involving the vehicle at the scene of the protest. He was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, where he was treated and discharged,” he added.
He said that the the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Aliyu Musa, has reiterated that there were no fatalities recorded during the protest and urged the public to prioritise accuracy and verify information through official channels.
“We call on members of the public to disregard this misinformation and always verify information through official channels,” he added, and reassured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
