Protests:Kano APC youths coalition urges Govts to alleviate Nigeria’s sufferings
The Coalition of APC Youths Movements in Kano State has urged governments at all levels to address the current economic hardships in the country to alleviate the suffering of the people.
“It is crucial that the governments address the socio-economic challenges facing the country and provide tangible solutions to improve the quality of life of all Nigerians,” the Coalition said.
The group made the call through its Chairman, Adamu Mukhtar Unguwar Gini, at a press conference held at the NUJ press centre, Kano,on Tuesday.
Unguwar Gini, however, said the Coalition would not partake in the impending nationwide protests against the current hardships in the country, and urged the youths to shun the exercise.
“While we acknowledge the legitimate concerns and grievances of the youths,we strongly advise against participating in this protest.
“History has shown that protests, even if well-intentioned,have often not resulted in the desired outcomes,” he said.
He cited the instances of Kenya,Libya and Sudan where he said protests led to more sufferings and instability, instead of resolving the issues at stake.
“Instead of taking to the streets,we urge the youths to engage in constructive dialogue with the government.Open communication and collaboration are more effective in pressing home our demands and ensuring that our voices are heard,”the Chairman said.
He added that the coalition believed that peaceful approach would yield better results and prevent the potential for unrest and violence.
