Radda Flags-off N7 bn road projects
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has flagged off the construction of two road projects to be executed at the cost of over N6.931 billion.
The roads are to be executed through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
They are the Sheme-Unguwar Mai Kanwa-Faskari road and the Kasuwar Mata untua-Dandume road.
The governor said that the projects will stimulate economic activities in the area, and announced government intention to renovate and upgrade Sheme market this financial year.
“This administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring improved quality of life for all citizens of Katsina State,” he added.
He directed those handling the projects to adhere to specification, and guard them against vandalism.
Radda expressed gratitude to the federal government, the World Bank and Agence Francais Development, for their support in making RAAMP programmes a reality.
He said that their intervention has complemented government efforts in improving the quality of life of rural dwellers through the provision of infrastructural facilities and markets for agricultural products.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Rural and Social Development, Prof. Abdulhamid Ahmed, said that the projects were meant to improve rural economy.
“Being an agrarian community with a large number of people who depend on farming for their livelihood, the community must guard this project against vandalism to ensure its longevity.”
