Radda offers automatic employment to First Class graduate selling satchet water
A First Class graduate of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University Katsina, whose video went viral on the Internet selling satchet water on the streets of Abuja, has received automatic employment.
The unemployed young man, Sham’unu Ishaq, was given immediate employment by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State.
“Upon learning of Ishaq’s situation, Governor Radda promptly directed his Special Assistant on Students Matters, Hon. Muhammad Nagaske, to verify the authenticity of the viral video.
“Subsequent investigation confirmed that Sham’unu Ishaq indeed graduated with First Class honors in B.Sc (Ed.) Education/Biology during the 2021/2022 academic session, as verified by the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor.
“Ishaq, who completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Taraba State, had resorted to selling pure water to meet personal and family obligations,” a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed said.
The governor, who said, “academic excellence should be rewarded, not relegated to the streets,” directed for Ishaq’s immediate employment through the Head of Service.
“This administration remains committed to identifying and supporting exceptional talents who can contribute to our state’s development.”
The governor had this year offered automatic employment to nine outstanding graduates of Isah Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, and nine First Class Graduates of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University.
“Our administration recognises that the future of Katsina State lies in harnessing the potential of our brightest minds,” Governor Radda emphasised.
“We will continue to create opportunities that enable our youth to utilise their skills and knowledge for the betterment of our society.”
