Ramadan: Jigawa Commissioner Launches Food Aid for Vulnerable

The pioneer Commissioner of Livestock Management in Jigawa, Professor Salim Abdurrahaman Lawan has flagged off the distribution of food aid to vulnerable households in Gwaram Local Government Area.
The food aid is to support members of the households to observe the ongoing Ramadan fast with ease.
Spealing during the distribution of the food aid held at Jikas in Maruta ward of the local government area, Lawan said it was to cushion the economic strain on families during the holy month of Ramadan.
“This is just the beginning. The items meant for the remaining 10 wards have already been dispatched to their respective headquarters,” he said.
He described the gesture as a demonstration of his solidarity with the people, adding that the food aid represents the first phase of a wider humanitarian programme designed to reach more residents in the coming weeks.
The commissioner, a former chairman of the academic staff union of federal university dutse, assured that all wards in Gwaram would benefit from similar support and other welfare packages.
The Syndicate reports that items distributed included bags of sugar, maize, beans and millet.
